Robert McClellan, Praxair, Inc

Bob McClellan has been a regular presenter to Science Exploration Day since 1989.  He and David Tooke presented the Cryogenics demonstration as a Large Group session five years (from 1989 to 1993).  Bob presented the Cold, Cold World of Cryogenics by himself eight times (from 1995 to 2003).  In addition, Bob presented the Cryogenics demonstration as our Keynote Speaker three times, in 1994, 2002, and 2006.  His presentations are consistently reviewed as outstanding and are the most popular “photo ops” for the media photographers.  That makes for a total of 16 presentations to large groups of students at our Science Exploration Days.

Bob earned his Associates degree with Distinction from Erie Community College in Mechanical Technology in 1963.  He began working for Linde division of Union Carbide, which later became Praxair, Inc.  For 21 years, Bob worked in Research and Development, on projects such as oxygen generating systems, conversion of coal to liquid fuel, and producing pure silicon (for transistors).  For another 22 years Bob worked on designing and installing gas generation plants across the USA and Canada.
